Apple and Mixed Berry Pull-Apart Damper
This apple and mixed berry pull-apart damper is a very special treat for Valentine’s Day – enjoy!
4 cups self-raising flour
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons nutmeg
1 small tin of pie apples
1 small tin mixed berries
250 grams butter, melted and cooled
1/ Place flour to bowl then add butter and stir to combine. You can use your hands to rub together and make a breadcrumb consistency. Add sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon and combine well.
2/ Slowly add enough milk, stirring with a fork, until mixture comes together. Once combined, turn out onto a floured surface. Knead for a minute or two, until smooth.
3/ Roll out dough with a floured rolling pin, to a large rectangle. Cut in half then add apples and berries on top of one side. Place the other half of dough over the top then cut into thick strips.
4/ Curl one piece at a time around the inside of a well-greased camp oven and layer as you go. With the final small piece, shape into a love heart and pop straight on top.
5/ Cook for around half an hour or until golden brown and fully cooked through. Serve and enjoy!
